Dr.Steinberg is in the private practise of psychiatry,via telepsychiatry since the start of the pandemic. He is an active member of the Voluntary Faculty Committee of Zucker Hillside, having chaired it for 2 years from 2017-2019. For many years he ran the Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center,training over 60 Fellows from 1993-2008. He was a Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and at the Zucker School of Medicine. Dr. Steinberg was deeply involved in teaching and practising clinical bioethics on a local and national level, chairing the Bioethics Committee at LIJ, and at the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. His book on End of Life Decisions was published by the American Psychiatric Press in 1998 and is still in print. Dr.Steinberg presented at over 40 national meetings, and chaired the program committtee for the annual meeting of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine in 2006.
