Dr. Binny Khandakar is an Anatomic Pathologist with subspecialty expertise in GI-Liver-Pancreas pathology. As an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Dr. Khandakar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role.
Dr. Khandakar earned her MBBS degree from the Medical College of Kolkata and completed her Residency in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She further honed her skills through specialized fellowships, including one at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where she focused on Oncologic Surgical Pathology. She also completed a fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital, specializing in Gastrointestinal Pathology.
Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic/ Clinical Pathology, Dr. Khandakar is highly skilled in diagnosing and interpreting tissue samples to identify disease and guide treatment plans. She has a particular interest in GI, Liver, and Pancreas Pathology, and her expertise in this subspecialty allows her to provide comprehensive and accurate diagnoses to patients. Her area of research interest includes gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas cancers and inflammatory diseases and application of AI in Pathology.
In her academic role, Dr. Khandakar is committed to educating the next generation of physicians. Her dedication to teaching extends to her involvement as an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
